1951 Model Year Transition:
The 1951 Chevrolet and GMC pickup model year was a transition period for Advance Design truck beds. Early-production 1951 trucks were equipped with the original 9-board bed floor (8 bed strips), while later-production 1951 trucks received the revised 8-board bed floor (7 bed strips). Because Chevrolet and GMC did not publish a clearly documented production break—and many trucks have had bed components replaced over the years—model year alone should not be used to determine the correct replacement parts.

How to Identify Your Bed:
A 9-board bed uses nine wooden bed planks and eight metal bed strips, while an 8-board bed uses eight wooden bed planks and seven metal bed strips. Count your bed boards or bed strips before ordering to ensure you select the correct replacement components.

Installation Note:
Some 1951 trucks originally equipped with the early 9-board bed floor may have been converted to an 8-board bed over the years. Depending on your truck's existing bed components and carriage bolt locations, minor drilling may be required to align the carriage bolt holes during installation.
